probably got 200quid to spend would prefer to spend less to be honest.i like ATi but apparently Nvidia have the score AGP wise at the moment?what card either brands, and how much... UK buyer from UK sites please...
running a 2.4 3400 A64 socket 754 with 1.5gb ram and a brand new tagan 500w with all fancy connectors etc so should be nice system with new card right? as i could never afford SLi etc...

cant seem to find any more high end cards online i thought ati did an equivalent but must be mistaken

I think I would go for a 7900GS (£120) and a new PCIe motherboard (£40).

A new motherboard will give you a huge improvement in possible cards and open up the possibility of ATI.

socket 754 pci-e boards are crap most have the nforce 4-4x chipset which is not very good and it is alot more hassle if you want pci-e though go with the 7900gs otherwise the 7800 is the way to go

its not just the mobo you need, but a new cpu and ambe even more ram. the cost of all that being the same, if not more than the 7800gs.

imo, get the agp card so that you can stick with your current pc for a little longer till when vista comes out along with a new set of cpu's (core 3?, new amd?) and dx10 cards

I have the XFX 7800GS Extreme, very good card for the money & overclocks well, even with the std cooler.

It's a shame you can't stretch to another £45, as that would get you the Gainward 7800GS +.....which is actually a 7900GT on an AGP board.....goes faster than any other 7800....

Try and get the 7800GS+, but if you can't be bothered im sure the standard 7800GS would give some tasty performance.

I was going to suggest getting a 7600gt to tide you over till the DX10's arrive. but looking at the price premium over a PCI-E model i couldnt reccomend that. SOOOOOOooo.
