Post £650 to spend on a laptop

    So which one ?
I basically need one with discrete graphics, not onboard/integrated chipset rubbish, as it needs to power 2 monitors and I want some oomph in that department.
Preferably 1GB RAM and at least 60GB hard drive.

I've seen this one by Asus -> http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l...94&modelmenu=1
..which looks good with discrete nVidia Go 7300 gfx, but not ideal SiS 756 chipset.

Thoughts, other options appreciated. Want to purchase today !

Actually the Dell Inspiron 6400 range does have the option to go for the ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 or 1400. For example if you go for the £549 Inspiron 6400 and then configure it for a ATI graphics card upgrade it comes in at £619.50 inc VAT and Delivery

Specifically said x1300 (as thats what I'm typing this on - with an x1300)

And you just have to wait a couple of weeks till Dell do a Free Double Memory offer and or Free Delivery - and you can add that extra memory (which is why mine has 2gb in it )

I'm sorry Dave87, I still don't get it ! You said an Inspiron 6400 with an upgrade to X1300 discrete gfx - well I did that and the final price is £737 !! I have a budget of £650.
If I'm doing something wrong, please tell me.

    Cheers

Ah, one of the dell favourites - to reach the advertised price you have to reduce to 1 year collect and return warrenty - which then removes £117 from the total, giving a laptop with x1300 graphics for £619

For the memory upgrade - either wait until free double memory, or go to the likes of crucial and pay for a single 512mb DDR2-SODIMM (DDR2-667)

If you know someone who works for Sony, you can get a VGNN11S which is a bit heavy at 3.1kg, but:

    Intel® Centrino® Duo T2050 (1.60 GHz and 533 MHz FSB)
    Intel® Pro/Wireless 802.11a/b/g
Microsoft® Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005 (English version), Windows Vista™ Capable and Premium Ready*
100 GB (Serial ATA 5400rpm) hard disk drive
    1 GB DDR2 SDRAM (2 x 512 MB), maximum 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM with 2 x 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM
    15.4" WXGA (1280 x 800) X-black LCD
Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950 with up to 128MB Dynamic Video Memory shared with Main Memory

I know it's the Intel MA950, but you can get multi-monitor working with it.

    DVD±RW drive (Supporting DVD±R DL)

£621.67 inc VAT, to be released in October.
