So i'm going back to uni on Saturday and space in the car will be limited. I already have 2 monitors so i was thinking i can just buy a tv card for the comp and not take the actual tv back with me.
It would have to be one of those usb ones as i have no spare pci slots, but the thing is, is it then possible to play a games console through it? That's the only reason i can think of to need the real tv.
If not, still would be interested to know the best freeview usb tv thingymajig.

If you wanted to play a games console through it then you'd need a hybrid digital/analog TV tuner with a composite/s-video input on it. Also, there could well be a delay due to signal processing, which may make a console unplayable.

the confusing thing is that alot of tv tuners that say they are 'hybrids' don't actually have a S-video, RGB or SCART in. I'm looking for one myself and having some difficulty finding one suitable for functionality (want to plug my NTL box in so i can watch TV on my laptop) and size (ideally as small as those small DVR USB ones). Any thoughts?
Hybrid means analogue/digital TV and quite often USB tuners don't have room for any extra inputs.
I know for a fact that Terratec's Cinergy Hybrid USB XS has S-Video and Composite inputs because I'm sat with the breakout cable for it on my lap now.

By digital does it mean you just get digital quality but still only channels 1 2 3 4 5? Or does digital mean freeview channels? It's kinda confusing. I don't even know if you can get freeview on a usb dongle can you?
I've ordered this -> http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=366867 hopefully arriving today, it wasn't recommended but it was cheap, i'll let you know how i get on with it later if it arrives today. If it says it's digital, then it means you will be able to receive freeview.

Agree with post above if you want to use it for games youll need to make sure the card doesnt introduce lag to the game because of mpeg encoding on the input signal to the TV card. I dont know of any that work like this.
What console you using, can you not get a connection direct to the monitor or via a switching box to VGA / DVI ?
It doesn't matter anymore, as i've realised we are taking 2 cars therefore taking a tv is no longer a problem
