system spec with dx10 on horizon

    hi all
I've been umming and arring for the last month over a spec similar to this below, waiting to pluck up the courage to buy. This is my first new computer for 6 years and i don't want get something wrong, although i know everything is moving quickly tech wise.

I waited for the release of the intel chip instead of an amd but now i don't know whether to wait for other future technologies on the horizon,(directx 10 and the resulting gcards) i know you cant wait forever. How major is dx10 gonna be?

Ive read alot about the p5b motherboard, is the p5w i have listed poorer in contrast. Would i have to change motherboard to get newer gcards that use directx 10 or even another another complete system overhaul to be able to update things like gcards?
Incidentally i have gone from a 7900gt gcard to the radeon x1900xt, good change?

Sorry for all the generic questions, i know there are alot but i think i would genuinely cry if i got the spec or the timing of purchase wrong.

DX10 cards are several months away from being available.

they will be very expensive and very hot in the first generation, better this time next year when the refresh at .65u arrives.
no games will really use DX10 for at least 18 months by which time second generation cool and efficient parts will become available.

stick with a 79xx or 19xx card for the next 12 months.
