Good riddance. Wish I'd done it about a year ago.

It will play directx10 games but not with the directx10 features. There are no directx10 cards to buy yet.

Its a direct X 9 card. There are no Direct X 10 cards out yet.

You will be able to play Direct X 10 games on that card, but it will only use up to Direct X 9 features.

Id just get a mid range card for the moment as it'll play everything out and wont loose as much value as a top end one.
And please, keef mate, punctuation !!

bear in mind G80 is looking like a november release... but I'm not soo sure on the tech thats going on inside it, it may be half DX9 and half DX10. whilst the R600 is fully DX10 with unified pipeline architecture, but I don't know how that will run DX9...

My decision would be to get a better card now and skip the first batch of DX10 cards.. you know its bound to have problems and bugs to be ironed out. FX5800/5600 series were the same during DX9 days..

Again, sorry to be anal, but these information can be had EASILY with a few clicks in google or the search button here.

actually sawyen I think you may have hit the nail on the head, the 2nd gen cards are already sounding like beasts (4Ghz -effective- DDR4!!!!)

he is right tbh, think about it the onlly direct x 9 cards worth it were far past the fx series lol, i would only have bought a 6800 gt or ultra, and that would be the first card to buy from the release of dx9 which is a long time so i think sawyens right wait till 2nd or third gen.

you say you need dx10 but you wont actually play games on it for a while with all the benefits anyway

According to ATI: DX10 cards will run DX9 better than current gen cards...according to ATI (they're hardly likely to say they play them badly are they??? )

To be honest I can't see ATI or nVidia making a DX10 card that plays DX9 games slower than it's predecessors..that would alienate a lot of people and totally discourage them from buying the part

I'm with sawyen on this one. Get what you can afford now and wait for the next batch of dx10 cards. The power requirements alone for the dx10 cards puts me off!
