I'm not at all suprised with this move, but hopefully, it will lead to some innovation & radical new ideas. As he mentions in his blog, the benefit of such infastructure that HP can provide is bound to help development.
Its a bit of a copycat move similar to dell and alienware to me *rolls eyes*
and just like Alienware, they look like a complete rip-off.
Yet another tax on the stupid I guess
Erm, have you not heard of voodoo before? Yes they are expensive but you are actually paying for something (unlike dellienware).
Hopefully HP wont mess them up but mabe make them more consumer friendly, esp in shipping to other countrys (all their pcs are made in canada iirc)
I'm sorry, but its a damn ripoff....
Take "The Omen" for example.....a C2D watercooled system with crossfire....
Starting from only $6000!!!!....Hell, I'd be wanting sexual favors from prominent moviestars for that price.
EDIT: On double-checking...that 6k price is with only 1 graphics card, a 80gig HDD, 2GB RAM and no monitor! Making it Crossfire (2 x X1900s), adding a keyboard and mouse, a BENQ 24" monitor and a 500g HDD hikes the price to 8k!
Most of voodoos price is from customisation, like pearlesant cases and so on, but still not for those where the price is important.
