    Quick question re formatting.

I have a backup IBM 10GB. I installed winxp on it a but have it installed on another hard drive in the machine. So formatted the drive using Partition magic and rebooted etc. However in the boot options it still gave the options for both OSes. When it tries to boot into the deleted one it understanably gets an error so i boot into the 2nd one.

Then I check the contents in explorer and it shows nothing on the drive but properties shows 53MB used up. I think its "Volume Info" or something. I tried formatting again but no joy. Since i can't "see" it i can't delete it. Should I use FDISK to get rid of it altogether?

I'm no expert, perhaps the MBR's got its knickers in a twist. try fdisk/mbr.

if u want to totally wipe the drive then yes just use fdisk to delete all the partitions and then create a new 1

it's the master boot record thats still giving you two OS choices. As the person above said, re-partition using fdisk.
