36gig will soon fill up, but you should notice a speed increase in certain things.
I'm running my main windows drive on a 34.7Gb 15k SCSI and it's still got 17Gb left and I install a lot of crap on there..

I think the older ones are quite noisy so you might want to bear that in mind. No pain no gain though. I prefer quiet.
