    ATi RD600 Motherboards for Core 2 Duo….

Does anyone know what is happening regarding ATi RD600 Motherboards for Core 2 Duo. On paper this chipset looks good to rock, but it has been Several months now since it was announced and still there is zilch…

DFI did declare their intention to produce one with a target launch in September…. Been and gone….. I understand Intel may be playing anti ATi dirty tricks???

At the moment it seems the best Core 2 Duo motherboard ‘at any price’ is probably the ASUS P5W64 WS, and the best ‘reasonably priced’ the ASUS P5B Delux WiFi-AP as long as you don’t want to run CrossFire (SLI being possible with a 7950 GX2).

The RD600 looked like being a real contender for ‘top board’ status for Core 2 Duo, but there is still no mention on DFIs website or any other MB vendor that I can see.

    Anyone got any info?

i think i read somewhere that all the board manufacturers apart from DFI dropped the ati chipset, so maybe DFI have done the same? If they do release one, i reckon it will be expensive..£200+ perhaps?

The ASUS P5W64 WS is about £175 ATM.... I plan a Christmas new build - so hope it has come down by then... plus with the release of 4 core Kentfield that Core 2 Duo prices will also have come down..... who knows may even leap straight at 4 core???......

AFAIK, DFI will be the only show in town....I beleive some people already are testing samples and it seems like a great peice of kit as well.

The flipside though is that for the forseeable future all ATI chipsets will be for AMD CPUs

I am fairly confident that this will change over time but its something we have to live with, for now at least.
