    socket 754

    hi, I just fouund out i could use a socket 754 mobile processer in my motherboard. which i think is grea news because i fault i would have to get a new motherboard to upgrade. atm I have a 3200 64bit desktop processer.

    on that link which of the mobile processers in that link are more poerful and worth the the ugrade over my 3200 desktop processer?

    im reallly glad i could get a new processer in my old socket 754 mother board.

    Well, to be honest I wouldn't bother going for anything less then the 4000+ seeing as have a 3200+ currently....and the 4000+ is £216 and single core!

    It would be cheaper to buy a S939 board and a dual core 939 CPU.

    but that would mean new motherboard an new install of xp.

    thats why I was hoping they would be cheaper

    im happy with my xp install and havent got a disc so getting a newmotherboard would mean getting a new version of xp and fresh installl

    The 3200 is a decent chip, and I agree that I can't see any point in splashing out big bucks for what is ultimately only going to be a relatively minor upgrade. I'd suggest you save your dosh and go for a bigger upgrade next year.... Maybe including a Vista install disk for your troubles....

    i agree i will wait and do the bit thing and wait for vista.

    the thing thats slowing me down is my av f-secure so once i got rid of it and got a lighter av i should have a faster pc
