I use my MX 700 on my bed, about 10 feet away. I charge the batteries once a week. The batteries in my keyboard I've yet to replace and I've had it for almost 3 months. I got the MX duo.

I don't know what the exact battery life of the MX700 is supposed to be, but I used mine at a LAN for around 36 hours without a charge and the red light never even came on. Infact the only time I have seem the red light on mine was when I first got it and it needed charging up.

directhex, would that set work alright with my computer, or do I need something special to use the bluetooth stuff? Or do I just plug it straight in? I think I know what I am asking the GF for, for my birthday. That keyboard is just sexual

boomslang's build quality are tosh, had one for 6months and the left click died, and de-fluffing the ball got boring.
mx700 is easily as good as the boomslang, with the added bonus of no cord to get caught on anything.

battery life, umm, not sure, well over 24 hours at least, but I just slap it back in the charger when I leave the pc anyway.

Have a look for the MX310, it's similar in shape to the MX500, uses the same MX optical engine and has loads of buttons but is cheaper.
