is it just me, or does the number look a little too powerful..
The amount of shaders immediately put the R580 48 unified shaders to shame..

Now when are ati gunna spill the beans...
Bit scary sli psu guideline though
I am guessing that chip density has been increased for GDD4 allowing a smaller number of chips.....else this card will be full-length =P

still regardless, 128 unified shaders is already impressive enough...
Lets hope things don't fall apart like the Volari V8 Duo thingy.. on paper it then it also looked like a super card.. 16 pixel pipes with shed loads of memory bandwidth.. and what did that turn out to be?
Then again, its Nvidia, they should know better right?
*... think 5800Ultra...
Me want Ultrabook
mmmhh... i can feel my wallet springing open all on it's own - wonder if I'll be able to resist the temptation when it's released as I've been telling myself for the last 6 months that the reason to not upgrade is so I can wait for DX10 cards to arrive.....
7900 isn't that bad... its the 7800 that was bad
Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.2Ghz (400Mhzx8) 1.52V (set in bios, 1.47v real) | 4GB GeIL PC6400 4-4-4-12 | Gigabyte DQ6 @ 1600Mhz | HD2900XT 1GB | Enermax Infiniti 720W | Silverstone TJ07-B with custom watercooling | BenQ FP241WZ
3dmark05 - 13140 | 3dmark06 - 6698 | SuperPi 1M - 15s
Damn. I thought the 8 series wasn't due till next year! <gets head out of sand> Hmmm.. <thinks he might have to buy himself a Christmas present after all>
Can I wait until the first die shrink for this or the R600???
the 7800GTX was fine tbh.. it wasnt too hot, just not enough headroom to take on the X1800XT.. but it was the fastest solution at the time.. it had good yield and there's little returns problems..
7900 on the contrary, cards going K.I.A without a reason, memory going boing, some G71 cores didnt even give signs before it just went bollocks. The 7900 was supposedly better than the 7800 if it wasnt for those annoying artifacts or dead GPUs..
Me want Ultrabook
Indeed it does seem overkill and it looks like it will cost an arm and a leg to by the looks of it, the power requirements are a lol comment tbh. although being dx10 compliant is definately a plus side 8800gts ftw for me tbh or we shall have to see what ati can concur in the meanwhile..
