xp2500 random crashes

hi,

my problem is that my machine will crash half way through 3dmark2001se when i push the fsb above 200mhz.

xp2500
8rda+ (v2.1)
2x 512mb pc3200 Twinmos (winbond)
ati 9700 pro
120gb maxtor 9
dvd rom
floppy
4x 80mm case fans
330w enermax psu.
slk800 (80mm fan)

i can overclock my xp2500 to 2100mhz.

but cant get much over that.

increasing the vcore makes things worse, it just crashes quicker.

sys temp: 24.c
cpu temp idle: 37.c
cpu temp load 43.c

vcore: 1.65v
vdd: 1.8b
vdimm: 2.77
vagp: 1.5

now my question is why?

is it the psu being to weak?

The psu is fine your just pushing too far. 200fsb is probably the best your going to get keeping it stable. Vcore at 1.65 sounds right and the temps are fine. Leave it at 200 mate

well i used to be able to get 2300mhz with my old gf3-ti200.
i just assumed that the 9700 pro was taking more power and making it unstable.

can you adjust your multiplier?

or have you a locked barton?

looked at how stable your voltages are? it should varie a little bit, upto 0.04 i expect for vcore, but with my 350w psu as soon as i vcore mod my 1700+ on my nf7-s to get 1.9-1.95v it varies by 0.1v!!! that means i need a new psu
at 1.8v it is fine and only varies a little, even when it is volt modded to get that

yep i can adjust my multiplier. ive tried a few settings
9.5x 210 which i thought it would handle but it crashed 3dmark.

i will give it some more testing tonight, only played with it for 30mins last night.

i will check my voltages too.

bios or usdm?

If thats the case then id say definately look into the psu

Sorry if i have confused the situation. Thats quite a perf drop in terms of processing speed with the newer card in there so maybe it is a psu problem.

from bios:

vdd: 1.84
vcore: 1.71 to 1.72 (overvolting, set to 1.675 in bios)
vdimm: 2.73 to 2.75
+5v: 4.86
+12v: 12.22
-12v: -12.28
-5v: 5.45
vbat: 2.97 to 3.18
5vsb: 5.01

i think its sorted now,

i removed the cpu fsb jumper.

and moved 1x 512mb stick from dimm2 to dimm3.

now its much more stable.

currently doing

220x9.5 (2100mhz)

most xp2500's won't tollerate going above 200mhz fsb IMO
