Where to mount my case fan?

Where do you guys mount fans in your case when you have used up all the proper holdings for them. I have an Akasa Eclipse but I have already filled the 2 spaces for 120MM fans (one front one rear)

I just purchased another 80mm fan but dont know how or where to screw it in. I dont want to have to cut holes in my nice case though. I was hoping to point this extra fan at my 7900GX2 as its the hottest component in my system and if I can take it down a few degrees il be happier overclocking it.

The fan is an 80mm sharkoon 2000 and I think it has both the rubber anti vibration thingies and regular screws. Any ideas?

nightshadow was pointing out the zalman fan mounting not the fan it allows you to put a fan almost anywhere in your case!

Ok il look into it. Are there any solutions which dont require me purchasing anything else? Superglue perhaps? Joking ofcourse but there must be some way of mounting an 80mm fan inside a case without using the usual fan spots.

Superglue some lego bricks onto your 7950 and attach the fan to that.

You can do either of the following

1. Attach the 80mm fan to another with some cable ties so they are both horizontal. Then attach the end fan to a pci plate with cable ties again. Screw the pci plate in place - if it doesn't make sense I can try to get you a pic.

2. Old pci card - and cut hole in it. Screw card in place and use blu tack to hold the fan in place. The hole is for air intake. I am using this mod so can take a pic if you want?

if you dont want to spend £3 on a zalman fan bracket, you could make your own out of a strip of metal or plastic, drill a hole in either end and screw one end into one of the pci slot screw holes.

The only problem I can see with the PCI card is - you would need a long card as the GPU is quite long?

Have you considered twis-ties - thats how some of the fans (like the akasa amber in this pic) in my case are secured -

put the rubber vibration mounts on the fan, dont trim the excess off them, and rest the fan on the back of the video card.. the rubber will hold it off the card and allow airflow

worked fine on my 9800 pro for a couple of years and took the core temps down 15 deg

I'm not an expert, all i can think of is to just perhaps buy an extra side panal, cheapy one, measure it up properly so you can make a long slit cut where the graphics card will sit beneath it, to allow heat expiration. If the confidence is there then i dont see why you cant take this further and add your extra fan into the side, drawing heat out.

I mean you could do this in the side you already have, but i certainly wouldn't ! Have you thought about transferring your whole kit into a big box of corn flakes!

How about, remove the fan in the square space in the rear, on the bottom plane/edge of the exposed space/gap somehow attatch a metal sheet to protrude outwards, and have ready a similar sized piece to be attatched (somehow ) to the top edge.
Imagine you are looking at the case from outside, now attatch the left edge of one fan to the left edge of the gap in the case, so the fan can be moved, door motion style, so its right side is on the middle of the bottom plate, do the same on the right side with the right edge of the other fan so they both meet in the middle of the bottom plate. bend or attatch the top plate prepared earlier into the space ontop. et voila- 2 fans in one space, kind of. Might have to use like some sort of sealent or wax to close up small spaces.
if i've explained this correctly then looking at case from above should be looking at a V shape protruding outwards.

Just use cable tie or put in drirectly on the card. It should works fine. I used to tied fans all around my case, np.
