    Help me overclock

Hi guys, I haven't overclocked for about a year now and seem to be out of touch, I've only managed to get my Core 2 Duo E6400 upto 2.4GHz from 2.1 just by raising the FSB to 300 and rasing the cpu and ram voltage. I thought i'd be able to get more from the fsb without going into changing the ram timings and such, so come on you fellow geeks, tell me what to do.

    cheers.

    Cpu - Core 2 Duo E6400 Allendale
    RAM - OCZ 6400 - 5-5-5-12
    Mobo - Abit Ab9 Pro

to be honest, i wouldnt have thought that you would need to add any voltage to the ram or cpu to hit 2.4. have you got the latest bios for the motherboard?

Run the memory at 1:1. This will lower the final memory speed by quite a bit, but actual perfromance difference is negligable (there may even be an improvement if you can tighten the timings significantly). The Core 2 Duos really seem to like the memory to be synchronous with the FSB.

Also, make sure you have an up to date BIOS.

Ok, tried that and still nothing, it wont go any higher than 300FSB, on Toms Hardware guide theres an article on overclocking this very cpu and they've got to 3.1GHz on stock cooling by using 387FSB and 1.45volts and, they say the best motherboard to do it on was the one im using with the 1.4 Bios, which is what im using! so why cant I even get passed 300?

    Cheers.

have you manually entered the ram timings? have you tried a bit of extra voltage to the northbridge? (shouldnt need it really). have you run orthos to see if its stable at stock? run memtest - test 5 overnight, it could be something as simple as a bad stick of ram. what psu?
