    SATA 150 and SATA 300?

Looks like I'm gonna have to buy some hard drives earlier than I thought. My question is - Does anyone know if SATA 300 drives can hook up to a SATA 150 mobo? If not do you think I should upgrade my motherboard considering no-one seems to sell SATA 150 drives? (That then brings up the whole issue of whether to get a whole new computer, considering I need a new power supply and maybe some more ram!)

Damn! I was hoping you would say it wasn't so I'd have an excuse to get rid of that crappy motherboard

most SATA300 drives have a jumper that forces 150 mode. But 3 models I've used automatically adjust (though they have jumper too). Well, I'm not sure what do they adjust, as only one of them has the real max transfer speed over 150 Mbit/sec :-)

Would there be much difference between 150 and 300? Its mainly for recording music and capturing video.
