    Midrange Laptop for parents

Nightmare, I am trying to choose a laptop for my parents and could do with some advice. The following features are required:

    17" Screen
    DVD RW
    Reasonable speed
    Budget around £1000 (prefer less)

At the momnet quite keen on the Rock Pegasus Range or a Sony Vaio.

    I would appreciate any help.
    Specs:

    Q6600 G0, Thermalright Ultra 120, ABIT IP35 PRO, 4GB Corsair DDR2, Trusty old Tagan 480u, BFG 8800 GTS 512, Samsung F1 750 GB.

What is the laptop going to be used for? £1000 is complete and utter overkill for a basic Office/Email/browsing machine. You can get a decent 17" laptop for around the £700 mark.

I'm getting my Dell Inspiron 9400 tomorrow...*whoop whoop* and it cost under a grand (not by much when you factor in tax mind you) and for that I got a Core 2 Duo T5600 (1.83MHz), a 17" WUXGA 1920x1200 (screw those XGA pansy screens), 1Gig RAM, 60Gig 7200RPM, and a X1400 256Mb Radeon GFX (not the best, but trying to wean myself off games).

It's got more than enough grunt to deal with the 3D Modelling, Video Editing, Graphic Editing work I throw at it, so I'm sure it'd be more than enough for most other people...

My advice...save your money, go buy something passable from PC World (believe it or not, they usually have something decent if you know what you're looking for)
