Question WHAT Low Profile socket A hsf? SILENT PLEASE.

hi, bought a hiper slim case media box thing
with a socketa mini atx mobo and 2800barton so could be abit warm in there... IF this is a problem and it doesn't cool enough i have a 2100 thoroughbred that would be cooler.
So basically what cooler. i was thinking the Akasa AK-360 Low Profile Socket 478 cooler BUT it has a 36db fan... so either a 80/60 kit on that heatsink if it would fit? (its 5cm high case...) or a different 60mm fan or cooler?because its only 21.5cfm i think so 7v mod on it woud still be around 20db's?

SO... WHAT Heat Sink/Fan Combo? OR What Heat Sink/Fan kit? OR What fan for that heat sink and will it keep it cool enough? and How loud?
    cheers

    A skt 478 cooler with a Barton
I can't think of any decent low profile socket A coolers.

I think even the Thermaltake Silentboost would be too tall.

I know it would mean spending a few £/$ but you could try the Barton and if it runs a tad warm you could maybe get hold of a mobile cpu instead........or underclock the existing one a bit.

    Are you in the U.K?

yeah uk mate yes.maybe run the barton like 266 fsb not 333 then ive still probably got same cpu speed as the 2100 but with the barton's 512 cache... wouldnt mind a mobile.their alot tho and would defeat the object cause i've just bought a brand new socketa mobo and if i had to get a new one again.unless i could send it back to scan?
    EDIT:
someone on a different forum said:
use the tbred and clock it down to ~1ghz, ~1.0v (or however low you can go... some don't like under 1.1v or so). It should run <20W then

this sounds like a great idea.its just I'll have to underclock and bench it at lower volts to find out whats stable... i hope my motherboad can do this... http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=111916

There's no other low profile cooler for a socket A that fits this case (it's a 1u size that you need).

Keef - i had the same case and managed to knock up a small "hack" to a current HSF.
Take This and add a low profile fan on top (10mm). I used a standard 60mm coolermaster jobbie. Worked great
I just used some cables ties and looped them around the clips holding the HSF to the mobo, worked brilliantly.

I know coolermaster did a low profile 939 HSF, i just cant find it (it was very hard to buy anyway ). I found one on Ebay ages ago, but missed it. It wasnt even on CM's site when i last looked.

Ahhh balls. Socket A. This is where you find out i didnt read the thread in full
AFAIK - that wont fit socket A.

At the time, it was running on a opty 146. Lowered the deault voltage a bit and it would run totaly passive

Finding a low profile socket A HSF for that is going to be hell !
