Asus or MSI. Which is best?

Hi all,

First of all I'd like to say HI to everyone here at HEXUS

I'm considering building a core 2 duo system and I've narrowed my choice of mobo's down to 2 but I'm undecided which would be best for what I need. I'm not looking for a gaming system (although the odd game of sims2 etc might creep in there now and then) but more a general use and graphic design system.

The two mobos I've chosen are:

ASUS P5W DH Deluxe

and

MSI 975X Platinum-PE



They both look like good mobos but I would still like some feedback and/or suggestions before parting with my money.

Scrap the MSI, and have a look at the P5B deluxe wifi as your other choice. Personally, i prefer the P5B to the P5Wdh. I had an MSI and it was terrible.

Agree with Clunk...

I had numerous teething issues with my P5B but once they sorted the BIOS out it turned into a great board....very solid, great performace.

The only reason to choose one of the other boards you have listed would be price (MSI) or expansion slots (P5W).

Hmmmm.....looks like I will have to think about this a bit longer and way up the pros and cons.

Tom's is not exactly that reliable a place to read reviews, they are biased. They will favour the products from their sponsers instead of which is truely better. You are here on Hexus, check out reviews on www.hexus.net aswell as googling for reviews of parts you are unsure about and want to know more about.

Of the two you ask about ..... ASUS P5W DH Deluxe definitely but if you don't want to run two graphics cards go for the ASUS P5B Deluxe (you can alwats get a dual GPU single card).

If you do, or may want Crossifire than it has to be the ASUS P5W DH Deluxe - unless you want the absolute best and most stable and clockable.... and have support for Kentfield... then it is the Asus P5W 64 WS Professional but this will set you back &#163;180.

I also have to say the ABIT AW9D Max is looking awfully good.... and they could well be returning to their former greatness, and ABIT support is second to none! Well worth a serious consideration.
