    Recommend HDD

    For games and random acces times performance, and the odd tv show, and pretty quiet. I feel 150 gb would be enough.

    I have maximum of £200 for hdd budget

    Now the choice so far is;

    1x WD raptor 150gb (x or normal, same price :/) with silent enclosure.

    2x samsung 40gb(or 80) in raid for games, and 1x high capacity hdd for windows.

    What is the best and quietest option performance wise, but mainly are these 'slightly' faster hdd atully worth the price. Does anyone with one notice the diffrence :?

    The Samsung Spinpoint P120 series are also good quiet, fast SATA2 drives. CustomPC gave the P120 250GB a good review and mine cost me less than £50.

    Thanks,
    last time i used froogle a year or 2 ago it didnt show much. But now it isnt bad

    So if i bought 2 of these drives (Samsung p120) and i have a asus p5w dh, with ezbackup.

    Do i just follow the manual plug those two in, and it will work and have 250gb storage? (instead of 500gb)

    Why?
    Is it as quiet as the Samsungp120? Better Performance?

    I'm fairly certain it has better performance, especially for writes, but I doubt it is quieter.

    I would ditch the raptor. They are fast drives, but the better 7200 rpm drives can match them (due to much higher platter densities), except where masses of small files are concerned, and for far less cost per GB.

    It is advisable to use some rubber grommets when mounting the drive to ensure it's as quiet as possible, see this thread for more discussion re: spinpoints and noise levels:
