My E6600 temps @ 3000 too toasty?

Just started playing with my new system which seems to overclock fairly effortlessly but a bit worried about temps :

Specs:

E6600 @ 3000 Mhz
1900 XT
P5B Deluxe
2Gb G.Skill (running at CAS5 til I RMA it, should be CAS4)
Arctic Cooler 7 Pro
Akasa Eclipse 62 (wt 2 x 120mm fans)

Temps
Idle 47C (333 x 6 = 2000 Mhz)
Stress test 59 C (TAT 100% load test, Orthos is cooler maybe 56C)

- I think these should be lower, either the Arctic cooler is not man enough or I need to re-seat it -

Note : I'm going with the temps I get from Intel TAT tool or Coretemp not the AI Suite or PC Probe tools as they are *supposed* to be more accurate. I get quite different readings from them, sigh....

Anyway, PC runs quite happy, no crashes etc, what do you reckon?

Looks fine to me mate, you could possibly shave a few C off the temps by using arctic silver 5, make sure all your cables are tidy, change the config of the case fans (sometimes works well), reseat the heatsink, and check that the top of the cpu and underside of the heatsink are definately flat with no air bubbles. You can make the temps higher by using too much thermal paste as well, or if a hair or other debris gets in there.

Asus board = high temp reported.

Seems par for the course.

My setup gives similar idle temps when at 3.2GHz, but - as this requires 1.45v :undecided the TAT load temps are into the mid 60's :shocked2:

At 3GHz, the temps idle around early 40's and can hit 60 in TAT load, this at 1.35v

I found moving the whole system into a P180 has helped a little, simultaneously rerouting all the cables to assist airflow, but these temps are with a Scythe Ninja Plus on and I must admit I had hoped for better :(

Put your hand on the heatsink, if it\'s 60 it does get really hot, otherwise the mobo just reporting nonsense

I think I need more serious cooling to go further, but I\'m happy anyhow, X6800 speed isn\'t too shabby is it?. :mrgreen:

Doesn't TAT measure the innermost part, though ? I am thinking this means that this is not the temp that the heatsink will get too......

The heatsink wont get to 60 :P Just saying that if the CPU is really running @ 60 degree the heat transfered to the heatsink would be substantial.

Kinda figured that was what you meant.....but even when I push my setup with TAT load and get to 60+, the Ninja never really feels hot (or even warm).....so could this mean that the IHS is not really doing it's thing ?

Really, last time I used the Ninja it feels quite hot even when temp report is only 44 degree. But really dont be concern if it doesnt crash

Well, 3GHz is where I leave it most of the time, for the sake of cooler running ;) never had a crash yet :) (or at 3.2GHz)
