    Quiet PSU recommendations

What is the best quiet PSU at the 300-400W mark?

I've read many good things about Seasonic (S12-380 £40, Scan) but am tempted by a Nesteq Semi-Fanless 450W (QuietPC, £90)

Will I notice a lot of difference between the two? Does the S12 Seasonic series vary in noise production ie is the S12-380 quieter than the S12-430 ????

    Thanx

I think the difference is between the 430 and below models and the 500 & 600w models which are actually newer circuitry. Those two are slightly noisier but this term is relative as they are still very quiet, certainly my s12-500 is much quieter than my nexus 120mm case fans.

silentpcreview.com should have all the info you need for deciding what you want.

I would give the nod to the nesteq though out of the two - but for double?? i dunno.

The Silentpcreview of the Seasonic PSUs was very informative. I've learnt that the 330w and 380w are very good but have smaller heatsinks than the 430w + models. They are therefore not quite as quiet (although still 80%+ efficient) when under load. I've decided to go for the 430w Seasonic at £47 (scan). The Quiet PC Nesteq is a little pricey - twice the price when you add delivery!

I seem to be spending a lot of money with Scan these days...

You might as well go for the Silverstone ST230NF 300W

When i was looking for the same thing i ended up with a NexusNX3000, as recomended on SPCR.
    - And i have to admit, its very good, certainly for the price its very quite.
    - However this info is about a year out of date, and it isnt fannless by a long way.

The Seasonics are very quiet. If the lack of fan noise is what you require then thats your baby.

I'm not sure if you can buy these in the UK anymore. I believe they discontinued the 350 and are now pushing the 500.

Whether it be a 350 or 500...they just arent capable of running any kind of mid-high end system cooly or stabley.

I have the Seasonic S12-430. I'm very very happy with it - it's super quiet most of the time.
