Looking at the rest of your systems it's probably overkill though.

Chuckskull is definitely right it is basically a trimmed down 7900GT PCI-E and way better than than the normal 7800GS (damn my own buying impulses)

Agreed, a mate of mine recently bought on of those and it's given his PC a whole new purpose in life. He happily reports that the likes of CoH and HL2 play extremely well with his P4 3.06GHz HT.

It's the best purchase if you can't/don't want to pay out for a new mobo etc.

[OT] As has been said before, are you sure your keyboard is working properly? [/OT]

Anyhow, a 6200 is probably worse, maybe similar, to a 9800 that he's got atm.

How long until you move to PCI-E? If its less than about 2 months, is it really worth upgrading your current machine? I would save the money and buy a decent PCI-E card when the time comes

At the moment it's the Gainward bliss 7800GS+ 512mb, which is actually a 7900gt core.

Soon it will have some competition from a suspected AGP version of the X1950pro.

yes 7800gs is the best around but how long before you upgrade to pci-e
id go for a 6800GT or ultra and overclock it a bit while saving a few quid!

Unless you are changing your whole system, I suggest you stick with the 9800pro graphic card you have. Just my 2pence worth.

It will be competition but from the looks of the ATI specs its not going to be as quick.
The ATI card will prolly be £50 or so cheaper though.

I've got the XFX7800gs extreme and it rocks, Bought it off the "egg" Oblivion and Titan Quest look awesome. The water effects are just mind blowing. Just Cause looks great also and HL2 was a trip to play. I'm sorry but that's why we have computers is for the eye candy,,, right?
Or else save some money and buy a port!!
