Which cheap s939 mobo for my Opty 146? VGA built in?

    Hi all,

I'm looking for a cheap s939 mobo for my Opty 146. I've never Oc'ed before so this will be my first time.

I was thinking, since i dont play games etc, would be cheaper to get a board that has VGA built in?? All i want from the VGA is for it to have DVI and be able to display to a 19" TFT at a decent resolution.
Otherwise, would it be better for get a normal cheap DVI GFX card??

    I also use stardard Kingston PC3200 ram....2x512MB sticks. CL3 stuff....nothing special.

    Any recommendations??

    Thanks all

Thanks mate. Saw this board earlier at work today, but the board only has 2 PCI slots. I need about 4-5 of the lovelies....so a proper ATX board.

Also, bit stoopid Q: SATA-II is back compatible with SATA-I right? i.e. I can use my SATA-I HDs on a SATA-II port?

Finally, the FSB/HT speed of the board is 1000MHz...on others it is 2000MHz....whats that for? Which one do i need? (sorry....i'm so ignorant about OC'ing...)

    That Gigabyte is probably fine.
Abit nF-95 actually overclocks pretty well but you need to use Clockgen as the BIOS is very limited.

MSI K8NGM2 is good if you can find 1.

edit: just saw your post - there aren't too many (any?) full ATX 939 boards with int. gfx.

    No problems with your HDDs.
It's 1000MHz each way so some people call it 2000.

    Thanks guys.

Tbh, it doesnt have to have VGA onbard....I guess i'll just source a cheapo DVI GFX instead. Nothing major.....think a good board is the most important thing at the moment.

Saw the MSI board @ Dabs earlier too....again it's has too few pci slots.

you might struggle to find a PCI-E board with 4-5 PCI slots.
perhaps an AGP board like an MSI K8N Neo2?

    The newer K8n neo4 has PCI-e, 4 PCI slots and a couple of PCI-e x1 too. http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=209818
