RAM information...

On various forums I see people giving massive amounts of information on their RAM, like version numbers etc...

How the heck do they find this stuff out?!

EDIT: So I found a version code written on the RAM itself. After Googling this I discovered it's 'INFINEON, Die Rev B'... anyone know what this means?

use cpu-z

and have a look at the SPD data.

but i think what you want is a screen showing you the SPD like this, right (near the bottom):

infineon make the actual chips of the ram, these are then bought by corsair who package it into a stick of ram

thats the only input the manufacturer has hence the near identical performance of different sticks using the same ICs

It's just geeks being anally retentive about RAM chips. Everyone wants them to do the highest speed, and then puts them on a divider anyway
