    maxtor & clcik of death?

    has anyone had a maxtor drive die on them recently?

    ive had 3 80gb maxtors die?

    2 in the same server, and 1 in a friends pc that i built.

    they both started the click of death thing then died.

    My maxtor didnt even get windows on it before it crashed :s, and my friend has also had one die on him :s Got a seagate now and my systems been fine ever since

    Hdd failure scares me, i've got so much stuff on this 80gig hd that'd be impossible to get again! Hmm, should really sort some sort of back-up out.....

    hehe that must be a record pre install death.

    well my 40 gig maxtor ran fine for a year, now its in a ifferent machine and its fine.
    and this 120gb i have now is quick and ive had no trouble, it only got abou 15gb of stuff on it at present.. nowt important yet.

    if it dies i think seagate will be my next choice.

    I had a 60gb die a while ago and it had the click of death, was still usable (just) when i RMA'd it.

    I've had a maxtor 40GB die on me. My Western Digital is fine /me touches wood
