    I believe somebody modded an IDE cable with idependent (master/slave) activity LED's.

    I'll see if I can find it.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    hi fellas

    it realy isnt anything to do with my cdrom (that i know of) it basically just sits as normal idle until it then decides to have a party with the hardrive where it just seems to constantly access it to the point where the lights constantly on and (unless its interupted) can go on for well into an hour sometimes,
    very wierd issue and am now considering a full rebuild followed by a format and fresh install of xp to see if this will conquer it.

    thnx again

    Turn the screensaver off, and monitor power off - and leave the task manager up, with the process window visible, organised by CPU usage.

    When the hdd starts kicking in, look and see what is using any CPU time - there's your clue.
