    Question 2GB RAM on Opty 146/7900GTO system?YES/NO? Why?sell me 2gb if needed;)opinions?

right basically my opty 146 is coming and my dfi ultra d is also arriving and im thinking of a 7900gs/gto probably the gto if i can find one at 160 again... anyways heres the problem my 1gb GeIL value (2x512) was used on my cpu seller's system to acheive 2.7ghz at 1.4v nicely so thats not a problem BUT do i need 2gb ram to really use this system properly with its hardware?

I'll be wanting max settings as pos in games (19" dell d1226h max 1600x1200 70hz) so can i or is it gonna be bottleknecked by 1gb over 2gb?

if so anyone want to sell me at a decent price some used ddr 2x1gb cheap?
opinions on your experiences with 1/2gb in systems relating to this and what you could run your hardware at please...

    cheers once again people

Good riddance. Wish I'd done it about a year ago.

in some games, i played half life 2 and games of that era easily with a gig, some games like bf2 i tthink benefits alot from more ram, but 1 gig will still play things, not like its totally inefficent

I've got 2GB of PC3200 that I have in my current PC, I would swap to 1GB of yours + cash.

2gb helps a lot in the battlefield games, i went from 1 to 2 a year ago made a massive difference in loading times etc, noticed it a lot in other games, to put it short your going to get a smoother fps not neccersarily more fps

It will help a lot with upcoming games such as UT2007 etc. which will use large textures. The difference is quite noticeable even now in BF2, FEAR and Oblivion as well as things like photoshop. 100% worth it!

is it more loading that fps overall? judging seems bit of both so wth a 7900gs or a gto (if pos) prolly gonna be a must right or a bottleneck with 1gb otherwise?
    cheers again people!

One thing that I found was when i was running 1 gig of Ram the system kept on having to access the HDD to get more data so it brought the FPS down, with 2 gig it just went away. And go with the GTO, even at 170 its a superb card for the money, or possibly the X1950Pro from ATI has been getting good reviews and people seem to like it.
