I think that the Conroe will be better, OEM original equipment manufacturer means it comes without the box packaging and no heatsink fan.
double post
harry1,
with or without the 'lol' that was totally and utterly unacceptable.
Please do not message me about Scan Free shipping, I no longer work for HEXUS.net
To give a slightly more informed answer, the Conroe is better.
However, it will likely be more expensive to make the best out of it - some of the boards are over £150, and processors even more. Factoring in decent memory and that, you can have a rather large bill on your hands They do go like the clappers, and will, coupled with a good graphics card, be better at gaming, now and in the future.
Having said that - what games do you play? If its not the latest and the greatest, with full eye candy, then you could go for an opteron based system and be perfectly happy. It all comes down to budget and technical ability, as to which would give you the best system.
Hope this helps,
Dave
thanx htid and matt D for the support. and thanx for answering my question. i do want to play the best games and im looking at spending around a grand and i think the system works out at around £937 is that a good price or am i spending to much money when i dont need to?
Jesus, harry1 was only joking. Why is everyone starting to get super PC round here. I mean fresh didnt seem to be offended, what harry1 wrote wasnt offensive so whats the problem. There are too many Hitlers in the world without Hexus turning into the Third Reich.
Fresh - as Harry said, posting your full spec list would be helpful, aswell as where you are ordering it from - as someone might be able to find some of the components cheaper for you
Greek Tony - Its not a case of getting too 'PC' its about common courtesy and a hint of self restraint. The analogy to Hitler leaves me somewhat baffled, as I'm sure he didn't mind offending people. The Hexus community is largely self moderated - it is a family forum afterall, and as such there are some limits to what should and shouldn't not be posted. I feel that Harry's post was unnecessarily blunt and bordering on insulting, but he has apologised for it. Learn and move on
Dave
It may be worth holding off a week or two before making a big purchase. Both Intels Quadcore (Kentsfield) and Nvidias Direct X 10 cards are due out very soon. While you may not be able to afford these they will almost certainly reduce the cost of the components. You may even notice a flood of second hand stuff as people rush to upgrade.
