    buying a new PC

    i am selling my old PC and i need advice on which to buy...an Intel Core Duo or an AMD dual core. in terms of speed, compatibility, fan noise etc. which in your opinion is better...? pls help.

    c2d. E6600 should do nicely, beats all amd consumer (im not sure about opteron) processors.

    how abouts fan noise...which one is quieter? Vista compatibilty?

    If you mean the fan on the stock cooler, then it will depend on what model of cpu you buy, but i would say that the amd heatpipe cooler is a bit quieter than the intel cooler, but neither are quiet. if you go with core 2 duo and you want quiet, its worth investing a few quid in a decent cooler and fan.

    Think about what you want to know - ask what you want to know in one post and build/add to it don't just ask the same question 10 times in different threads and then talk rubbish on them
