Seconds after mentioning how amazing my soundcard is on the "when did you last upgade your soundcard" thread noticed that the sound quality on in the mid-high range was sounding terrible. It actually distorts! I'm fairly sure its not my speakers or my amp (I hope it isn't) because the distortion sounds digital. I'm not even sure if its not the computer because the onboard does the same.
I'm gonna see if it isn't my IRQs misbehaving again. Does anyone have any sugestions?
Have you got your EQ set up in a program & on the sound controller? if so it may be overamping the treble and hence distorting.

Good point but my soundcard doesn't have an eq. I've turned the Foobar eq off just in case.

Forgive me for sounding ignorant as I dont even know what irq does but the last time my sound messed up it was an IRQ problem. A new motherboard fixed it. The sound card used to be on IRQ 11. Could this be my problem.
It could also be something to do with dodgy power as my power supply is terrible (I'm getting a Hiper Type R in about a month).
The EQ will be in the soundcards setup program - little icon in the taskbar (by the clock?)
:D Dont worry, I know it doesn't have one. But I have turned all the Delta Control Panel feature off (bass management/speaker placement etc). at first I thought it was just the MP3 but I have tried it cds aswell.
It clicks a lot but I'm fairly sure thats the crap hds I'm using untill I can get them replaced.
Hmmmm. I just downloaded trusty ol' winamp and the noise seems to have lessened (it now just sounds like regular MP3... tinkley). Could it be a problem with my decoders? Bearing in mind that it happened with both WMP and Foobar 2000. Hmmmmmmmm *strokes non-existant goatee*
Looks like it might be the pathetic excuse for graphics I'm using. I just updated the drivers and its doing it again :(. Oh well, I've been telling myself to get a new graphics card for ages :D
