cyclic redundancy error!
Seems to be getting the error message "cyclic redundancy error" alot when copying over cds lately. This is using different media and containing different anything from a movie to mp3s etc...
Any ideas? This is when im not overclocked too. I'm guessing its either:
* Lense needs cleaning
* Cds are crap
Soo, suggestions? :)

I'm with you on both counts there - check them out.
CRC checking occurs as data is read from the media (or an attempt to read it is made.)
So, either the lens is dirty, the CD's are rough, or there is some error in the CRC routines on the CD Drive.

"or there is some error in the CRC routines on the CD Drive"
Care to elaborate? :)

the Cyclic Redundancy Checks themselves have a problem and are coming up with errors where none exist.
Try and see if there is a firmware upgrade for the drive or even re-flash the current one ifi t is up to date.

wow, i remember those from the days of floppy disks :) back then it meant the floppies were pretty much knackered, but you *may* of got away with format/reuse if you were lucky.
