    Best-non backplate cpu cooler

Just wondering, is there any good (if any) Cpu cooler that dont require me removing my motherboard? preberbly 'good looking' becuase of case window but outherwise not important.

the stock is gettign a bit nasty

Ive had a good look round but none that atully say Does not need backplate ^^

    Thanks in advance

most dont actually need the backplate removing, they just clip onto the bracket on the motherboard (as your stock one is likely to)

    what socket is your motherboard?

Artic Freezers are fantastic and pretty cheap (£18-25).

    I run a LGA775 3.0GHZ @ 3.8GHZ and never go above 48 C under load.

Another vote for Artic Freezer. It's not the prettiest out there but it does it's job very well. And for the price you can't complain. Installation is very easy too. I think you can get one off Scan.
BTW I'm not sayin Zalman is bad but they are bit pricey compared to this one. It's upto you.

    Bad advice...read the thread!

Firstly the Zalman is decent but:
    1. Over-Priced
    2. Has a backplate which isnt required by OP
    3. Doesnt perform any better than Artic Freezers
    4. Why advertise OCUK here?.....they are a rubbish company, with rubbish service and have dumb Technicians. Please dont be offended but people that use OCUK and recommend them are 'usually' novice (not saying you, but usually) at anything PC.

Thats the kiddie...You will be very pleased!

I would recommend the arctic silencers too as well. Also the scythe ninja if you need a bit more cooling power

Yeah Artic Freezer, the Zalman is way to overpriced, it looks nice sure but it doesnt offer anymore other the AF.

About the OCUK post, ive used OCUK twice and have had no problems- Oh and im not a n00b But yeah OcUK tend to mess up and customer service is extermely poor.

Get the Artic Freezer or if you need more power a Scythe Ninja or a Tuniq Tower 120. Or for looks i dont know -_- WATER COOL!!

I'd also go for the Arctic Freezer. My current Zalman was a pain to install and it doesn't seem to be working properly even after reseating it twice.
