Hi,
I'm ripping out my watercooling and going back to air. Can someone recommend a decent S939 cooler? Ideally I'd like a good balance between cooling and noise - I don't want a helicopter in my PC!
Cheers...

Performance: Scythe Ninja Plus or Scythe Infinity with 120mm Sharkoon 1000 fan (big, but awesome).
Value performance: Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro
artic freezer 64 is very good
How big are the Scythe coolers? It'll be going in an Antec P180 case. They look MASSIVE....

I have the gigabyte pro cooler and it has fantastic cooling when on low speed (come with a fan controler) but when it is on high my god can you hear it!
Not that your ever need to. my Athlon64 3500 Oc'd to 2.8 is sitting at about 23 deg at normal use. Not bad considering it spins at a low speed. Looks good to.
also there is a titan one at overcockers for £7.99 ( looks similair to artic ish )
Artic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro mate.used it on a 754 aswell and worked very well on both 754 and 939.its cheap as too get one NOW!

I'm using a zalman 9500 in my rig and it's pretty awesome. You can turn the fan down and it's as good as the stock hsf but silent. At full speed it's a little loud but it's performance is great.
Another arctic cooler used on 754 and now AM2 quiet and good cooling.
Hardware:Contrary to the odd name and translucent-grey color, Pocari Sweat does not taste like sweat
Main PC - See 'My System'
Server - Athlon XP 1700+, 1GB, 500GB HD
Laptop - Compaq AMD Turion 64 X2, 60GB HD, 1GB
Media Centre Shuttle - P4 3.0 Skt 775 Shuttle, 1GB, 120GB HD
NAS - 400GB
Home Entertainment - Xbox 360 with 37" HD LCD TV, Acoustic Energy Aegis EVO A speakers (5,1), Yamaha RXV359 AV reciever
Media Centre II - X2 4000+, 1GB, 400Gb Vista Ultimate
Not much of a comparison, but better than none - I've got a volt-modded Sharkoon 1000 (which already border on pure silence) stuck on my Scythe Infinity on my single-core 146 at exactly the same speed, and the BIOS is reported ~45c after a good 3hr of racing on Sunday.
The Ninja Plus is apparently a touch better than the Infinity, but there's not much in it. It all depends on how much you want to spend in the end. The Ninja Plus, despite being bigger than the Ninja, also fits in the P180 according to the Scythe USA site. Close call though.
Another for Arctic Freezer 64 Pro, BUT make sure you get Speedfan to go with it !!!
Thanks to certain other places for that tip ! Set temps to what you want to keep on the CPU and set min 30% fan speeds to prevent stalling, and you're away.
I have less than 37 C on idle and the Freezer Pro and Speedfan keep the CPU below 45C at 100%. AND it's almost silent....

My PSU blew up my graphics card, which I replaced, then upgraded to a 7900GT - that was duff, so I RMAd it, then added a 2nd one. With all the chopping and changing I decided to just aircool the GFX cards so I wouldn't have to keep redoing all the piping.
Now 6 months on, I can either add expensive blocks to the 2x7900GTs or replace the waterblocks on the mobo and CPU and rip out all the inconvenient (when it comes to upgrading) piping.
So I think I'm going to go for cheaper and neater air option :-).
dont laugh buy...
£8.45 buys you a nice big lump of aloy, and it dopes a good job

I dont bother with the fan speed adjuster, as it's not very loud on full anyway.
Keeps my Opty cool as a cucumber all day
