im gonna get rid of my ultra d as theres just too much and im no enthusiast so if anyone wants to make me and offer thats cool btw im in the UK...
but i would really like a second hand a8n sli deluxe but im not sure? whats the "se" like? any good? do i want the deluxe?i need in the next 2days to buy a new mobo or preferably a secondhand one.and it DOESNT have to be sli.aslong as its 16x pcie i dont care.i have a audigy2 so im not bothered about onboard sound.
so hit me with suggestions/offers if you like and how much and what specs and info you've had oh and some LINKS to UK ONLY sites/suppliers for these boards.
will be using a X2 939 3800 cpu and Corsair Twinx 2x1GB matched XMS3200 TWINX2048-3200C2PT Platinum ...
so ideas and results from the boards you've owned/recommend/unrecommended PLEASE.

I'm a big fan of the A8n-SLi Deluxe. The chipset fan is a known issue, but they're so easy to switch for a Zalman Heatsink. Mine clocks beautifully and my CPU and memory throw in the towel long before the Mobo does.

I had the Deluxe and its just horrible for memory overclocking (I had to run my memory at DDR266 even though the ram worked at DDR470 on my DFI)

The A8N-SLI Premium is a lot better than the Deluxe IMO.

A8n32 premium is better than both - i've had the a8n-premium before this board and it's nowhere near as stable. Has a good heatpipe solution for cooling and a additional fan for watercooling folk.

so whats a a8n "SE" then? not deluxe and not very good i take it?
oh and what do i do to replace chipset fan? are there screws on top or plastic hex's on bottom?a guide?

They're very easy to remove you don't need a guide

can i whack in a X2 without a problem on a old/used a8n sli deluxe?were the X2s support from the launch of the A8N cause i don't want to encounter problems!

Yeah my old board (A8n preimum) is sat in a friend's machine with an X2 processor running fine. Bios update might be necessary but that's all..

My MSI K8N Neo2 Plat is suppoosedly very friendly at OCing, although I have not tried it yet.

The Cell Menu is easily accessible, and they also bundle their own OC software.

Getting one now is a different matter but the newer MSI K8N versions will be just as good based on past experience.

i dunno how it ranks these days but my asus a8n32sli deluxe i think is its exact name is pretty good mines has ran my opteron at at either 1500mhz or 2.8/9 ghz automatically depending on the load since i got it basically,

the first core craps out at a little over 2.8 but the other core is good for atleast 2.9 so i just put the desired task onto that core and let it run its course and that leaves the other core for the operating system and then goes back to lowest multiplier when its not needed, but i dare say theres newer and better boards with some more goodies


check out the latest reviews on 939 boards i doubt the manufacturer will stop developing it for a good while yet

I would personally reccomend the Sapphire boards, the white ones only though, they are meant to be very good for overclocking
