Repairing CPU pin?

939 pins, does anyone know if you can repair a single CPU pin which has snapped off and missing?

its been sitting on the side for months now and i cant beleive theres no one out there that doesnt fix these things.

i wouldnt bother but its my FX57 and over a year ago cost me 730quid!

Try sending it back to the place you got it from or AMD directly, depending on where you got it from and how it was damaged it might be repaired, if not then you may have a nice key chain there.

hmm you rekon scan would refund me ? that would be handy.

if you can be arsed to grind down a solder tip till its really thin and go get a bit of 14k gold wire from a jewellery repair shop you can have a crack yourself.
need to heat up the soldering iron, and let it cool down enough so it can just melt the gold, then heat it up for 30 seconds, unplug and get to work. you dont have long, and if you can get the gold to solder on then trim the wire and insert while its still warm. its a one off, it either works or you have a keyring.

i was going todo that but i really dont have a steady hand anymore (too much bud), specialy when your needing to solder something that small. i'm going to email scan see what they say.

for the record i have a processor thats missing a pin in the middle and it works fine and still overlclocks like a beast

lucky you, well mine doesnt even boot, and its just the one on the very edge.

Simple - get some fuse wire, put it in the socket - and then put the cpu in contact should be fine - don't cut it too long

Scan wont refund you, its been too long. But AMD CPU's come with a 3 year warranty.

dont think the warranty covers accidental damage though...

i guess i could try the wire in the pin socket, need another 939 board to test with cba taking either of my 2 939 rigs apart atm

Take to a friendly jeweller and see what they can do

A mini drawing pin cut down also works well
Have you tested it ? - I also have a CPU without a pin (no, it wasnt mine ) on it that works fine
