Having a look at my system on the left... what would be *your* next upgrade:
1. Dell 2007WFP (or maybe samsung syncmaster 20.1" widescreen)
2. 2x1gb Memory
3. 2x37gb raptors in RAID0.
4. something else?
basically, do i go for a nice monitor, or some form of upgrade to make things run a bit faster/smoother?
Memory without a doubt if you're choosing only one, but christmas is coming up so why not treat yourself to a nice new monitor as well?
The Raptors would be good if you're doing tasks which require alot of disk access, but for gaming the memory is a must - and also for Vista.
RAM also.
The RAM fo' sho'.

Oh, and do you guys reckon just 2x1gb sticks of, say samsung, or would you go for corsair/something expensive?
Would you recommend i sell my 2x512mb, or keep all 4 sticks to make 3gb? (4 sticks of ram never used to be a great idea, im wondering if that has changed now?)
And unless you are stone deaf, grab something to quieten those raptors
I'm confused about 2 vs 4 sticks as well, but from what I've read it doesn't make a huge performance impact - 3% or so. However, I guess this varies from mobo to mobo.
Why not get some A-Data stuff? memoryc.com sell it, it's cheap, and has got good reviews. Just as good as some of the pricier stuff apparently.
Id say go for the 2x1gb sticks, dont bother buying expensive stuff, budget stuff works fine and u save urself a bomb! also having just got the samsung myself i must say its awesome, and at just a tad over £200 quite the bargin!
Well, unless you are an overclocker I would say budget is fine. If not there are plenty of RAM's out there with good heat spreaders. Geil is on discount now at overclockers.co.uk
