two phyiscal users on one pc?

i am trying to make a computer, so that it can be always used for downloading torrents, but then i dont want to waste electricity by having another computer on just for my sister to do her homework. i usually check it from time to time jut to see the speed of the torrents.lol. but then i dont want to distract my sisters home work so since i already got two lcd screens via a vga and dvi2vga output via the fx 5000/128mb i am thinking is there something simliar like this program for linux? http://userful.com/products/free-2-user

    - does that mean i have to buy this kvm switch? but that wont actually serve the purpose i require since it only operates 1 pc at a time not simultanesouly?

How about turning off the spare computer when your sisters not doing her homework? That way it won't be wasting electricity Unless she's working 24/7, the electricity cost for a few hours use a day isn't much.

this is pretty trivial on linux, a number of charity places have 4 people to a machine

Yeah, if she's doing homework, I guess she just needs Office(?). Alternativly, install Linux, and that program you mentioned above.

You can then run VMware Server (free) on one 'seat' and install windows into that, and have Azureus running under Linux on the other 'seat'

    How about that?

Yep - assuming that his sister doesn't need to keep interchanging formats between school and home.
