PCI-E Scsi adapters

Does anyone know of any PCI-E Scsi adapters?

Im just building my new 939 rig and instead of buying two new sata drives (my two 36gb raptors seem to have had better days), i was thinking of putting two of my three 15k seagates to good use.

The motherboard has a spare x4 slot, which initially i was going to get a sata raid card, but for the time being, using these two for a boot drive and then have a storage box attached via esata.

Any recommendations as i seem to find are sas controllers...

I normally look at http://www.hamiltone.co.uk for stuff like that....

They currently do not list any PCI-E SCSI controllers or SCSI RAID controllers.

Looking at adaptecs site shows they don't make any either.

I wouldn't hold out too much luck at the moment as most SCSI stuff is still PCI-X 66MHz

By the time you found a PCIe SCSI card you would realize that money could be spent on a cheap PCI Adaptec SCSI card + a couple 320G SATA drives.

PCI bus is actually not too bad. I am using a 3Ware SATA RAID card on PCI slot and it seems somewhat capped at 60MB/s which is about the same as standard harddrives (although random read/write speed is way higher than single disk).

If you are using SCSI 15K I think you are looking at fast response time / random RW rather than STR, the 36GB raptors aren't as fast as new 7.2K drives either.

And you only have 3 drives which makes spending a few hundreds on PCIe SCSI cards hard to justify.

Depends on what your budget is, I would recommend you to buy a PCI SCSI card and connect your disks, move your raptors to the motherboard addon SATA (SIL3114?) then stick a few 320G harddrives to the main SATA ports.

Already have three adaptec 29160 cards and an intel raid card too, but the performance with hostraid isnt great...

Might just bung it in my gigabyte 8knxp ultra 64 board instead.

Can you recommend fast sata drives for raid 0? doesnt have to be huge, but will be running xp pro 32bit and vista.
