    coolbits has stopped working!

    today i decided to upgrade my nvidia drivers from 90.something to the newest ones (93.71)!

    i uninstalled my old driver properly and used drivercleaner,

    i installed the new drivers without any problems and installed the coolbits registry edit!

    everything seemed fine until i start overclocking my graphics card it fails the test even with just a core increase of 1mhz!

    i thought it might be a problem with coolbits but i installed rivatuner and that is the same it even fails testing the standard clocks(450/1300)!

    i previously had my card overclocked to 550/1450 with no problems at all!

    anybody know what the problem could be?

    Works fine here, with some oddness, test on mine doesn't actually seem to test anymore, but still ok's the clock for applying. I even tried it at 800mhz core out of curiosity and it appeared to pass, despite the PC crashing almost instantly afterward.

    If it's any use these are the values I use:

    Code:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak]
    "NvCplExposeWin2kDualView"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplTvLocaleAutoDetect"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplAllowForceTVDetection"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplEnableActiveApp"=dword:00000001
    "DisableApplyColorsAtStartup"=dword:00000000
    "NoMenus"=dword:00000000
    "OverlayPageState"=dword:00000000
    "CinematicPageState"=dword:000000ff
    "NvCplThermalSettings"=dword:00000020
    "NvCplEnableScreenMenuPage"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplCustomResConfig"=dword:00000000
    "NvCplEnableAdditionalInfoPage"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplDisablePerfQualPage"=hex:00,00,00,00
    "NvCplEnableAGPSettingsPage"=dword:00000001
    "CoolBits"=dword:ffffffff
    "NvCplEnableOverlaySpanControl"=dword:00000001
    "TwinViewCapsOverride"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplEnableDesktopOverlapPage"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplEnableTroubleshootingPage"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplDisableRefreshRatePage"=dword:00000000
    "NvCplDisableRotateAngles"=dword:00000000
    "NoPages"=dword:00000000
    "NvCplEnableClearViewPage"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplEnableFanControl"=dword:00000003
    "NvCplEnableFrameSyncPage"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplEnableHardwarePage"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplEnablenForcePage"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplEnablePwrMzrOnDesktopMenu"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplEnableRotationColorSettings"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplNvThermPage"=dword:00000001
    "PowermizerPreferences"=dword:00000000
    "QTwkEnableModeChangeWarning"=dword:00000001

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\OpenGL]

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\OpenGL\Debug]
    "ShaderObjects"=dword:00000001
    Quite a few are out of date and unneeded now, but it's a one shot reg file for everything. If that doesn't work, try driver cleaner and so on.

    You need to re-enable it.

    Start->Run->Regedit

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak

    Add a DWORD key called Coolbits with HEX value 3.

    Try waiting a few days and redownloading, A few times I've had nvidia whql drivers do very odd things only to be fixed a week or so late silently.

    happened with my 7950GT, the driver they bought out specifically to support had a bug where it didn't recognize the the 7950GT

    You could also try the stripped drivers at 3dguru.
