Don't forget it's also on offer until tomorrow morning as well :)
I think this was asked recently. The OEM may only have a 1year warranty rather than 2 year for the retail version. That's just from memory though, could be wrong in this case.
I think that it doesnt come in its cool box and doesnt have the driver and demo CD.
Just go for the retail. The 'Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic™ + Creative HS600 Gaming Headset worth £29' deal is preety good value in my opinion I bought this a few months ago.
The OEM is brown boxed with a driver CD(not exactly sure whats on it, mine never went in my PC, I can check if you like). Retail, has a couple of internal cables for analogue audio and one for the floppy power connector I think.
Pretty sure Funkstar is right about the warranty too, but again I'm working from memory as the site doesn't have any info. Retail definitely has 2years warranty.
The main difference right now is the OEM is out of stock :P Retails only £4 more so I don't think you'll be breaking the bank. Exactly the same price if you order it before 12 on today only.
I think the retail has a gold back plane and connectors and the oem has silver as well. there is something else, but i cant remember.
My OEM one from scan has a gold back pane and gold plated sockets.
Same for me. Gold plated and a driver disk.
Can't comment about the warranty, because I don't know what it is.
I would advise caution however. While I love my X-Fi, and it's great in XP, the Vista potential is looking bleak. Vista is changing how Direct Sound works, so effects like EAX and CMSS are gone (both huge reasons for me buying the card). The current beta drivers are quite poor and lots of people are having trouble. We are hoping that Creative get their act together before the public release of Vista, but many are throwing in the towel now.
So, while the X-Fi is fantastic in XP, be careful of future compatibility.
dunno then :D
I wish NVidia would buy Creative...
