I've decided to go for either the 320GB Seagate or the 500GB Seagate depending how soon I need it (if I don't need it too soon I'll go for the 500GB)

Also, I have found out that the performance issues are due to my motherboard - earlier today I was messing around with FPS Creator and my music lagged majorly and so did the mouse when the hard drive was loading something. The same thing happened when my second SATA port broke.

I stuck my 200GB Maxtor into my Dads PC as he has SATA as well, the drive still only had 57% health on SMART but the performance was pretty much perfect for a SATA150 drive.

I'm going to go for the 320GB or the 500GB and use this current 200GB for backups until it fails, I'll then send it back to Maxtor for replacement if it's still in warranty.

    Thanks for all the help,
    Craig.
