    Question Which Dual Core Processor?

I'm looking at buying a new PC as mines getting a bit long in the tooth and I've seen a deal with Mesh whereby I can get a system with a Pentium D925 Dual Core 3.0GHz (4Mb cache, 800MHz) as the processor, for a little over £750. Does this CPU compare favourably with the newer ones out there or should I spend a little extra and get a system with a Core 2 Duo processor (I could get a E6400 for just a little more)?

It's been a while since I bought my last PC so any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers Clunk, I'll go down that route then.

Does anyone have any experience of PCSpecialist? I've just priced a Core 2 Duo spec machine on their website and it's come in at a good price. They look ok but looks can be deceptive

Yup, agreed from me as well. Pentium D is basically a normal Intel chip but with 2 cores, so the only difference you'd see is probably when multi-tasking & when compiling films etc.

Go for the Core 2 duo E6300 nice and cheap and good reviews too. It shouldn't add too much to your overall cost.
