what kind of overclock with stock cooler (E6300)

Im looking at getting a IntelCore2 E6400

I want to overclock (not that Ive done it before), but I aint gonna overclock like a nutter. Just checking it out to see the value of it all.

So, what kind of overclock would I expect with the standard stock fan. (as I heard em are pretty good)

Depends on motherboard.

I really don't have a whole lot of personal experience on OCing the Core 2 Duos, but everything I have read and seen leads me to belive that a 50-60% OC (2.8Ghz or so) on the retal heatsink is quite possible in most cases. Afterall, people are getting 90-100% OCs on the lower end core 2s with air cooling.

Depends on the cpu as well. Some will happily hit 3.0ghz + on the stock cooler with stock volts and some need 1.55v to get there. If your chip needs the extra voltage, then youll need a better cooler.

Yeah most C2D's seem to be great overclockers and will easly sit at high clocks with low temps and volts.
