    Zalman Fanmate 2

Does the fanmate have to be connected to the cpu fan header or can I connect it to one of the other 3 pin fan headers on my motherboard?

Also, would it work without connecting it to my motherboard and using a 3 pin to molex connector?

    Thanks

All the fan mate does is allow you to adjust the power going into the fan. You don't have to use it if you don't want to, and it can be plugged into any 3pin fan power connector, be that CPU header, a case fan header or a 3pin molex connector.

If you're using it to control the CPU fan be aware that plugging it into something other than the CPU fan header can result in an alarm - you should be able to disable this in the bios if relevant.
