Still clueless about a PSU

For my upcoming PC (E6400 - ab5 D wifi - 2gig). Going to put a mid range graphic card in, until latter 2007, when I'm looking for a D10 card. Plus I'm gonna overclock too.

Ain't gonna use two graphic cards (unless something crazy happens, like finding a bottomless wallet).

So I'm thinking along the lines of needing something like, a 580w PSU - for future proofing on a D10 card.

But with the vast amount of PSU's out there, I'm quite baffed and could do with a bit of help to narrow the list down.

I heard names, matter. But I dont know what names. :embarrassed:

Look towards a 600w then, something from enermax, seasonic etc will do the trick no probs :)

Yeah it is better to be safe than sorry, a better PSU would be a good investment now as you don't want to find you buy one now and find you need a new one later. (Plus you don't want to overstress a lower power PSU). Don't go with any cheap/generic PSU as you will be wasting your money.

Modular just means that most of the wires are seperate, rather than having a giant wiring loom to hide/tuck out of the way, you just use the leads that you need.

The Enermax liberty 620w should do you fine, as should the Seasonic s12, the s12 isnt modular, seasonic do a modular one, but it isnt cheap..the m12.

As has been said above - something like the Seasonic S12 would be perfect for you - quiet, stable and reliable :) The M12 is the modular version, OC3D tested it recently and even under full load they couldnt get the 12v rail to move from 12.00v - mightily impressive, but not that quiet under full load (though I doubt a Core2Duo based system will really stress it)

I'm speccing/building a new PC at the mo, and the folks in my spec thread (here) have said that the Seasonic S12 is better than the Enermax Liberty.

I wonder whether this 'betterness' (I think they said it runs quieter) outweighs the fact that the Enermax is modular and therefore leads to a much tidier case. I'm still undecided myself.

Modular sounds good. I mean, there are tons of wires/connectors. Must affect airflow? (cant always tuck them cables away)


EDIT:just updated 'my system' specs. PC is running 24/7 non-stop, 2-3 years now. :)
