    Best Speakers for 40-50 quid?

I'm building myself a new PC (see this thread) and I've decided to also chuck in a new set of speakers too (my old speakers are knackered).

I don't want to spend loads on the speakers as I don't use them all the time (I mainly use a headset when gaming cos I need the mic boom). On the other hand I don't want a naff 10 quid set either, cos when I do listen to some music, I want it to sound at least half decent. So I was thinking about sepnding around 40-50 notes.

I'm not really bothered about 5.1 or 7.1 cos like I said, it'll be music that they'll mainly be used for and only the odd bit of Saturday afternoon gaming.

From what I've seen so far, the Creative GigaWorks T20's look pretty good.

Can anyone recommend any other 2.0 or 2.1 speakers for 40-50 quid?

I had to take my Creatives back three times ! I tried Logitechs, not any better...

I ended up buying a NAD 3020 HiFi amp and pair of JPW mini monitor HiFi speakers. It cost me £30 for the amp and £60 for the speakers (ebay), but NOW my system really does kick bottom ! I cannot in all honesty recommend any low cost PC speaker systems
    Cheers, David

    Oh dear!

My £35 Labtec (from PC World ) speakers have done ok for the past 5 years, albeit not the most amazing sound in the world. They're starting to fall apart now though.

    Anyone else got any recommendations?

I found a company selling some super pricey reference monitor speakers on eBay, contacted them and picked them up for under half the eBay bid war price, goes well with the budget subwoofer
