    DVD Playback

    This is probably a really simple error on my part;

    I'm trying to play a film DVD through media player on my PC, using an LG OEM dvd writer, and it comes up with the message: "A Compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer". What am I missing? Can I get it for free?

    You need some DVD player software like Cyberlink PowerDVD methinks. I'm sure you can pick up a cheap copy for less than £10. There is a program called VLC I think which is free and can play your DVDs, but to play through WMP you need decoder software.

    WinDVD is also good.

    OK, thanks for that. Managed to grab a copy of WinDVD off my folks that they've never used. All works perfectly...
