Anyone any experience of Arbico?

I've been looking for a repleacement PC for a while and this seems to be good value for money but I know nothing about them other than this came second in a PC Advisor review of sub £1000 machines. So anyone know anything about them?

On a similar matter, I've also looked at an Alienware (the lowest spec machine they do) which comes in at a lot more but has a good brand behind it. Is it worth paying the extra for a known brand like Alienware or Mesh or taking the plunge with a cheaper, lesser known brand?

If you don't know much about computers, and don't have a brother/cousin/friend to help out, Mesh would be a good option.

or else just keep posting on here and find out how to build one yourself - it's not hard, and you get a lot out of it. It's handy to have a cheap laptop or other way to access internet when you get problems though!

Never heard of Arbico - look for impartial reviews??

I've tried looking for reviews of their service, etc, drawing a blank so far (apart from the customer feedback on their website that is ;))

I don't know enough to have the confidence to build it myself and besides that, I couldn't build one for as cheap as I've seen advertised. The Arbico system, for example, has an E6400 Core 2 Duo processor, a Geforce 7950GT GPU, 1Gb of memory, a 200Gb hard drive and a monitor for less than £750 after VAT. That's got to be hard to beat seeing as how it comes with the OS and all

Avoid Alienware. I'd do what Rack says. Either go Mesh or learn to build one yourself :D.

If you're going to get a pre-built system go with scan 3XS, Dell or Mesh, that would be my order of preference, scan have awesome customer service, and dell are good too, no experience with Mesh though. Would be cheaper to build yourself but you have to take into account the warranty and build costs you get with a pre-build machine.

I bought a 3XS system in february and i couldn't be more pleased with it. And yes avoid alienware, they're way overpriced.

Well since core2duo came out Dell should be able to do gaming rigs to match anything else on the market, which is what i presume you're after. The only down side i can see is the rubbish software they put on them that you don't need. But on the plus side you should get a decent warranty and there after sales support is pretty good so long as you don't get the people in india :P. 3XS will be more expensive there's almost no doubt about that, but in my experience, the build quality was top notch, they helped me get what i needed (and could afford) and their after sales service and support is second to none, which in my opinion was worth the extra money it cost me.

Edit: maybe someone else could chip in who's actually bought a system from them, i've only bought a monitor. My opinion of them is only based upon what kind of system can be specified on their website and my experience of having to get a replacement monitor.

on dell outlet is pretty good value for money. Dell outlet is always worth a check, it would give my system a bit of a spanking

One other company to put on your shortlist is Evesham.com.

I've recommended them to several people at work and those that have bought computers from the company have been happy with the service etc.

I have used arbico computers before, bought a motherboard off of them on ebay, perfect service and then purchased a whole starter system for my dad on their website. They're pretty good. :)

Have seen & talked to several who have used dell outlet to get great rigs. Persoinnally i build to ensure the components i want, but if i went for a pre build then dell outlet would be 1st place i looked.

Re memory for the new rig you'd be better off going for 2GB rather than 1Gb ideally ddr2 6400.

They are really good.
I had ordered from PCnextday, read reviews about how dreadful their after sales care was and cancelled order.
Placed an order wiuth Arbico. Very good customer service, prompt delivery and very good machine. On their site you can see that all the computers can have components upgraded but I 'phon4ed up sales and found that I could customise the machine much more than online and got myself a tailor made computer with exactly what I needed and what I didn't.
I really recommend them.

It'll be very useful for people searching. This is one of the only pages that comes close to reviewing the company. I just got an email alerting me to your reply.

I had an issue with my power supply six months into my warranty. I think it was faulty since it was definitely powerful enough for the machine. I delivered it back to Arbico and they upgraded it. Apart from that I've had no problems. They're really friendly and easy to deal with. Helped me out testing the machine with a Lynx audio PCI card (there were stories about another i7 m board by intel not being compatible with it and the i7 was too new then to know if the gigabyte mb that I ordered would be) before I received delivery of it.

Yeah, recommended. I'd buy from them again..

Just to follow up on this as I agree there is little out there to help people make their minds up. I have had a pretty negative experience of these guys so posted a review here detailing my purchase from them. Suffioce to say, I won't be heading back there again.

Recently recieved Computer from Arbico from their silent range, machine arrived on time as promiced.
Sales chap, Kameron helped me to configure this PC and I recieved everything as quoted in email.
Great customer services. Very happy that I choosed Arbico. No hesitation recommending Arbico. Good Luck!
