Sythe Quiet Drive & Samsung spinpoint

Does anyone have this combo (plus an Akasa Mirage 62)?

I have it and i'm not sure if the hdd is working correctly. At first it was fine, cut down vibration a lot, but now it seems to be vibrating quite a lot. Sometimes when the case door is shut, it makes it vibrate and is really annoying.

Also the hdd light is often flashing when nothing is even happening, say, if the pc is just on the desktop. It's just constantly flashing now even though all i'm doing is typing this. Then sometimes the hdd just starts to read/write (don't know if you can tell the difference) for no reason.

Is this normal or does the hdd sound faulty? Wanted to measure the hdd temp but does anyone know any progs to do it? Speedfan doesn't seem to see a hard drive.

    Cheers,
    Chris.

do a full spyware/av scan (and do the trend online spyware scan and ewido one) and also turn off the indexing service if you havent already...all worth a go

I have the silent drive thing on a raptor, and while it has cut down vibration and noise by about 50%, the raptor is still too loud for me. I also have a samsung spinpoint in the same case without any silencing and i cant hear that.

A friend has the same case and a raptor, he says because it's ally it rattles a hell of a lot.

Samsungs are really quiet (I have 3) so it sounds like either the HDD is reading and writing too much (virus or dodgy program) or the HDD cage has come loose.

I've never been more scared, some little kid called Sammy died in your quiet box !? Gerroff me forummz

I would suggest that the Samsung HDD not be kept in the HDD rack. I used a Silenx rack sometime ago and although temps were good, they are now much better and Samsung drives are silly quiet anyway.
